Slap Fight's Raw Punk Revival: A Single That Demands Attention

From Producer to Punk Powerhouse: Slap Fight's Explosive New Single

Slap Fight’s “Missed The Point” Delivers Raw Emotion on the Path to Self-Discovery

Allen Mitchum, the artist behind the alt-punk project Slap Fight, has just released "Missed The Point", the closing track from his sophomore EP Stay Confused.

“Missed The Point” isn’t just another punk track—it’s a moment of introspection. The song reflects Mitchum’s internal struggle with the feeling that he may have missed the mark in finding fulfillment, especially due to getting lost in our phones and worrying about what others think.

It taps into the universal question of whether we’re living the lives we truly want or merely following what society has told us we should want. In his own words, Mitchum says, “A lot of us are going through the motions in life, too distracted to ask, ‘Is this what I really want, or is it what I’ve been told I’m supposed to want?’”

Mitchum’s vocals carrying the weight of this realization. The energy in the track is charged with frustration, but also a sense of clarity with a hint of sarcasm. It’s relatable for anyone who has ever paused to question whether the life they’re living truly aligns with their personal values or if they’ve simply been caught in a cycle of external expectations.

The entire Stay Confused EP was self-produced and mixed by Mitchum in his home studio in Nashville, TN, and mastered by Mike Kalajian at Rogue Planet Mastering. Mitchum, who has produced for a wide range of artists across various genres, used his experience to bring this single (and EP) to life with authentic, raw, and catchy punk energy—and we just can't get enough! WE WANT MORE!!

This self-produced approach allows Mitchum the creative freedom to experiment and craft the sound exactly how he envisioned it. The DIY nature of the project gives it a gritty, unpolished feeling that suits the themes of the EP perfectly.

Mitchum cites several key albums that inspired him while creating Stay Confused. Among them are Gangster Of Love by Super American, Neck Deep by Neck Deep, and I Want To Disappear by The Story So Far.

Looking to the future, Mitchum has plans to focus entirely on Slap Fight in 2025. His upcoming work will emphasize a minimalist approach to songwriting—embracing limitations and create songs that grab listeners with the fewest possible elements, focusing more on the core structure of the song rather than relying on production flourishes.

"Missed The Point" serves as a powerful, introspective conclusion to Stay Confused, As Mitchum continues to evolve as an artist, it’s clear that Slap Fight is finding its true voice. With his focus shifting toward simpler, more direct songwriting, fans can expect more honest, high-quality alt-punk music—and we can't wait!
